LAGSA Airgun Competition, January 25, 2009

LAGSA sponsored an airgun competition recently and Oliver and I were able to attend. It was held last January 25, 2009, a Sunday, at the LAGCOM firing range in Cabuyao, Laguna.

Went up early to fetch Oliver from Cainta(he lives in Village East infront of Makro) and we went via the C5 Road to Cabuyao. Made a mistake by turning left to Cabuyao proper but noticed it midway and had to turn back. We arrived there at around 8 am and the competition has not started yet. Met some familiar faces from LAGSA like Mang Boni Borces, Ariel Canton and Jon Abainza.

We learned that the BR70 is on the other side of the range so we went there and found the JBC Guys were there already testing their rigs... Saw Mang Jun Lacanlale, owner of JBCand Mang Gilbert Angeles, the famous chief gunsmith, and today we're at the same level, we're shooting the BR70..he-he... Saw Willie Atienza and his son John Moses who was a champion BR shooter... Lots of familiar faces like Brian "Tangkad" Domingo, Mang Fely Dela Cruz(the policeman turned airgun addict..he-he), Mang Fred, Mang Boy Angeles, Jake Sarmiento, Ka Mamang, who had mistaken me of Willie while I was shooting and whisper "Mataas ang tama" he-he, Joseph Lacanlale(son of Mang Jun who makes the manual pump and the scuba tank adaptor), Ronald Lacanlale was not there I learned he has no airgun because a certain doctor liked his airgun and was forced to sell it to him..lots of familiar faces....

Saw Ana Marie Borces who was assigned by his father, Mang Boni, to the registration booth of the BR70. Jan Borces, Ana's sister arrived later and joined in the registration booth.

Went to shoot the BR70 and got 23/40 only, the usual reason, windy(mahangin kaya di tumama)... Oliver got 22 and even Mang Boni who is a seasoned shooter got 24 in his first try, got 27 later. The winner Brian got 33 and the second placer 33 also(lesser hits in Ram), Francis Cruz.

Took our lunch at Jollibee at the highway to Calamba, forgot the name of the branch.

After lunch, went to shoot BR25 with a score not worth mentioning..he-he.. Mang Boni won this category(4400 points out of 5000) by being 50 points ahead of another LAGSA lady member, Villy Jane Camunias, Jonas Torres won third place.

Met Richard Fernandez and Mang Pete(forgot his surname) of Las Pinas.. There's also a Jollibee guy who's looking for 4 shooters who did'nt pay their meals he-he... Luckily, Papa Art Valentin, President of LAGSA, paid the bill with a tip for the happy Jollibee guy(photo below). There's Mang Mario Muli, an airgunmaker from Pasig, and his team. Tadz of Angeles was also there but his team was not able to make it due to a wedding of a fellow airgunner.

Took some pictures the rest of the day and waited for the awarding of prizes. Saw Ana Marie and Jan Borces with Mang Boni shoot the MS Rifle competition. Saw also Joseph, Nomer, Mang Fely shoot the pistol category. Learned later that Nomer Lacsamana won the AAA Category with Mang Boni second and TJ Acoymo in third. Jon Abainza won the AA category for the scoped rifle with Gemo Cruz and Jed Roa following respectively.

Ronald Gutierrez won the A category followed by Jonas Torres, 2nd place and Ana Marie Borces in third. Mang Mario Muli won second place in the B category with Rogelio Ressurecion winning and Alex Guese in third place for the scoped rifle. The rest of the results, I was not able to get as we have to go home early to buy some buko pie...maybe some LAGSA members can post later...
